HOW TO RENEW AN INDIAN PASSPORT IN THE UAE?

Indian expats in the UAE can renew their passports by visiting the BLS International Services Centre that provides visa and passport services in the UAE. The venue also handles the collection of Indian passport renewal applications and fees.

Please note that BLS International Service Centres will collect all documents but the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General of India in Dubai will process your application.

Here’s how you can renew your Indian passport in the UAE.

VISIT THE NEAREST BLS CENTRE WITH THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

For Indian passport renewal in the UAE, you must visit the nearest BLS International Services Centre.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR INDIAN PASSPORT RENEWAL IN THE UAE

For valid UAE residence visa holders, mandatory documents for Indian passport renewal in the UAE include:

  • Current original passport of the applicant
  • Valid Emirates ID of the applicant

Supporting documents might be needed for specific cases, such as an expired UAE residence visa. You can visit the official BLS Centre website to know more about the supporting documents.

Those with UAE residence visas issued in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain are required to submit additional documents when applying at BLS Centres in Dubai or the Northern Emirates. This rule also applies to Dubai or Northern Emirates visa holders who submit applications at BLS Centres in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain.

When visiting the BLS Centres for renewing Indian passport in such cases, please bring along a valid proof of residency (such as a tenancy contract) or a letter from the employer/company stating that you work or live in the emirate.

If you want to make any changes in the current passport details, such as your name or address, the application will need to undergo police verification.

In emergencies, the applicant might request for the pre-police verification to be converted to post-police verification. By paying an extra fee, applicants can also apply for renewal via Tatkal.

Please note that applicants renewing Indian passports in Dubai or the rest of the UAE must submit their documents and application in person at their nearest BLS Centres.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR INDIAN PASSPORT RENEWAL FOR MINORS

If parents are looking to renew their child’s Indian passport in the UAE, they must submit these documents.

  • Current original passport of the applicant
  • Valid Emirates ID of the applicant
  • Current original passports of both parents (for verification)
  • Emirates ID of both parents (for verification)

Both parents must accompany the child for Indian passport renewal in the UAE.

PROCESS TO RENEW INDIAN PASSPORT IN THE UAE USING BLS CENTRES

Applicants who opt for Indian passport renewal at BLS Centres don’t need a prior appointment. Simply visit the facility to get a token number. You can take along photographs and photocopies of documents and get the application form typed at the BLS Centre.

Upon your turn, present all documents to the submission officer and pay the required fees for Indian passport renewal. Applicants renewing their Indian passports will also have to sign the application form in the presence of the submission officer.

The BLS Centre in Abu Dhabi is currently only accepting limited applications for passport renewal. These include applicants whose passports have already expired or will expire soon.

Don’t want to wait for a long time? Applicants can opt for BLS Centre’s Premium Lounge service, which is available in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Can those on a visiting visa renew their UAE Driving licence?

Can those on a visiting visa renew their UAE licence?

Dubai: Many people have doubts about whether they can renew their UAE license after returning home after staying in Dubai for many years and after a while on a visiting visa. But Ashish Mehta, the founder and managing partner of Ashish Mehta and Associates, cleared the doubts in this regard. He answered this doubt of many people in Khaleej Times.

Your UAE driving license is issued by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority when you reside in the UAE. But by law, the person must be a resident of the UAE to renew an expired UAE driving license of an expatriate above the age of 21.

Moreover, when applying for renewal of UAE driving license one must submit his original valid UAE Resident Identity Card, eye examination by an institution approved by the local authority and the relevant renewal fee to the RTA.

Also, if a person’s UAE driver’s license has not been renewed for more than ten years, he may be required to undergo a validation test to open a training file.

Along with this one has to pay application fee, handbook manual fee, RTA test fee, penalty for not renewing driving license on time, renewal fee and renewal fee to RTA for renewal of expired UAE driving license.

However, a non-resident cannot get a license. Application will not be accepted without UAE Resident Identity Card. Meanwhile, those who came on residence visa and not on visiting visa can apply.

For further clarifications on this matter, you may contact RTA
