Thirteen years of waiting for the people of Piravam and Koothattukulam area of Ernakulam district is coming to an end tomorrow. Construction started in 2010 and after facing many hurdles, the now real Korankadav bridge will be inaugurated tomorrow.
It was during the LDF government in 2010 that funds were allocated for the Koran Katav bridge, which was the main demand of the people. But the construction stopped midway. In 2020, the LDF government took necessary steps to resume the bridge work. After taking charge of the Public Works Department, the required additional amount was sanctioned for the approach road. All hurdles have been cleared and the bridge is now a reality.
This bridge connects Piravam and Kunanthunad constituencies. The bridge is 134 meters long across Muvatupuzhayar and 11 meters wide including a one and a half meter footpath on both sides. Once the bridge becomes a reality, the distance from Piravam and Koothattukulam areas to Kolanchery will be significantly reduced.
